It’s Less About the Teeth and More About the Routine

The mechanics are simple enough. A custom-made tray applies gentle pressure to shift teeth slightly, and after roughly two weeks, it’s swapped for the next one in the series, each shaped just a bit differently than the last, focusing on a slightly different part of the bite each time.

What that means day to day is that Invisalign treatment succeeds or stalls based on something almost embarrassingly ordinary: whether the tray goes back in after every meal, every single day, for 20 to 22 hours. 

Miss that consistently, and the whole timeline slips regardless of how well the trays were designed. Because the aligners come out for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. 

The habit part isn’t wearing them; it’s remembering to put them straight back afterwards rather than leaving them in a pocket “for a bit.”

Where the Discomfort Sits

Finishing the last tray isn’t quite the finish line, it feels like. A retainer follows, and skipping it tends to let teeth drift back towards where they started, undoing months of gradual movement in a fraction of the time.
